Scope: Design and construction of onsite pressure sewer systems

Environmental Factors: Warrandyte South and Warrandyte North are a part of the Yarra River catchment including the Mullum Mullum Creek. The soil profile through the area consisted of clay, shale and mud stone combined with steep terrain in heavily treed pockets. The onsite septic systems were not performing due to the slope of the land and sub-soil conditions.

PSSA Solution: Construct pressure sewer in steep terrain including the use of squat tanks, above ground discharge lines and retrofitting septic systems to provide a reticulated sewerage service to each property.

Environmental Outcomes: Stormwater drains improved with the removal of grey water discharging to stormwater and the river catchment. Onsite land improvement with absorption fields being abandoned provided dryer conditions. This project removed 186.4 million litres of septic and greywater discharge from the environment per annum.
