Scope: Design & Construction of Pressure Sewer Pump Units to serve both residential and commercial buildings which currently have onsite septic systems.
Environmental Factors: Cobargo sits above a small water catchment called Narira Creek which is a part of the Wallaga Lake catchment. Due to soil profile being granitic sand, heavy clay and shale the onsite septic systems could not control septic run off and pollution was entering the Narira Creek system.
PSSA Solution: The project involved designing and constructing a Pressure Sewer System to effectively replace the onsite septic disposal systems that the existing properties were using. The network delivered the waste water to a purpose built MBR Treatment Plant situated at the Cobargo show grounds and from there the treated effluent was used to irrigate the Show Grounds and Camping Reserve.
Environmental Outcomes: Post project saw the removal of greywater to the open spoon drains in the street. Backyards improved with wet soggy ground no longer being a problem. Pollution to the local catchment was reduced and the local show ground enjoyed year-round green lush lawn for agricultural events and camping. This project removed 42.5 million litres of septic and greywater discharge from the environment per annum.
