Scope: Design & Construction of Pressure Sewer Pump Units to serve both Residential and Commercial Properties including hotel / restaurants, supermarket, take away food outlets, railway station and tourist precinct.
Environmental Factors: Due to population growth and land development, coupled with the onsite septic systems being in mountainous, heavy clay soils, septic and greywater was not able to be contained within the property boundary. This was further exacerbated during peak tourist seasons with heavy loadings on onsite septic systems that were already failing.
PSSA Solution: The design and construction of Pressure Sewer Pump Units including the connection and upgrading of the existing property house drains to the Pressure Sewer System. The solution also included removing possible infiltration from stormwater and ensuring the entire serviced area was connected, eliminating the use of septic systems altogether.
Environmental Outcomes: Gembrook saw a vast improvement to the local roads open spoon drains with the removal of grey water discharges to stormwater and the complete collection of sewerage waste water to sewer. This resulted in the elimination of 16.5 million litres of septic and greywater discharge from the environment per annum.
