Scope: Installation of Pressure Sewer Pump Stations to serve multiple On-Site Accommodation Units for the redevelopment of the Nagambie Lakes Leisure Park.

Environmental Factors: Lake Nagambie is home to the state and national rowing championships Regatta Centre and is part of the Goulburn River Catchment. The park is surrounded by the lake on three sides and the old onsite septic systems were leaching directly into the lake and river catchment.

PSSA Solution: The project involved the redevelopment of an existing Caravan Park into a modern Van Park with On Site Cabins. The design allowed for the installation of Pressure Sewer Pump Stations where multiple cabins connected to the one pump unit.

A two-stage centrifugal pump was selected due to the pumps high flow characteristics. More cabins were capable of being connected to fewer pump stations than what traditional positive displacement pump stations would allow.

The high ground water table was a factor that affected the installation of the Pump Units. In some areas the ground water was less than 300mm below the NSL. To combat this PSSA used a 1550mm diameter auger to excavate the hole for the installation of the Pump Units.

Environmental Outcomes: Post completion of the park re-opening saw an immediate improvement to the area surrounding the Regatta Centre. There was an increase in occupancy rates at the park which is frequently used by visitors attending rowing events. This project removed 3.6 million litres of septic and greywater discharge from the environment per annum.
